About ToJo Shih Tzu

We started in Shih Tzu in 1989 and are members of the ASTC and the Golden Gate Shih Tzu Fanciers.  We fell in love with the breed when attending a benched show at the Cow Palace near San Francisco, CA.

We were able to get our First Shih Tzu “Madam” from Sally Vilas, who is very well known in the breed.  Madam needed a friend and our poodle was getting old, so we contacted a breeder we met at the Cow Palace and we were so lucky to get our precious Murphy (CH. Ming Mei Miss Murphy McGee).  Even though we never intended to show we were encouraged to show Murphy after she won some Best in Match shows.  We went to just socialize! Murphy was shown by one of her breeders Carolyn Connaughton for her first point and also a group placement.  She then went on to finish with 3 Majors!

Now we were hooked, so looking at the Shih Tzu Reporter I discovered a gorgeous Black Shih Tzu bred by Betty Meidlinger  “Jac”  (Am/Can CH Mei San Jumpin Jack Flash ROM)   At that moment I knew black was what I wanted.  So we went to Minnesota to meet “Magic” , and to see “Jac” show at the specialty.  He won the breed under Judge Dr. Jon Ferrante.  Home we went with Magic (Ch Mei San Midnight Magical Miss)  What a show dog she was!!!!  She finished fast with two 5pt Majors and a 4pt Major from Oregon to New York to California.  In New York she went over 150 dogs for Best of Winners.  We bred Murphy to Jac , and Magic to Ch Show Off’s I’ve got Rhythm.  Murphy and Jac produced “Max” , and Magic and Rhythm produced “Montana” .

This was the beginning…. of ToJo Shih Tzu!
